The Standard Motor Products TS157 is a direct-fit replacement coolant fan switch engineered to restore proper electric cooling fan operation. This thermal switch monitors engine coolant temperature and signals the fan controller to activate the cooling fan at the appropriate temperature threshold, helping prevent overheating and protecting the engine.

Standard Motor Products designs this switch using a formed bimetallic contact arm, where two metals with different thermal expansion rates are fused together. As coolant temperature rises, the bimetal arm moves and actuates a snap-action electrical contact, sending the signal to the fan control circuit.
