Product Details

The Gates 12020 is a factory-molded, OEM-style Small Inside Diameter (Small I.D.) Coolant Hose engineered to fit today's smaller, tighter engine compartments. Designed for use in coolant, water, and air applications, this hose is also approved for marine use, making it a versatile choice across automotive and marine platforms.

Constructed with an EPDM tube, synthetic fiber knit reinforcement, and an EPDM outer cover, the Gates 12020 delivers exceptional durability and resistance to the elements. Gates engineers this hose specifically to combat electrochemical degradation (ECD) — the leading cause of coolant hose failure — where the interaction between hose, coolant, and metal fittings creates micro-cracks that allow coolant to seep in and break down the hose reinforcement.

Key Features:

  • Factory-molded OEM-style design for precise fitment in tight engine compartments
  • EPDM tube and cover with synthetic fiber knit reinforcement for long service life
  • Small inside diameter range: 1/4" to 1"
  • Engineered to resist electrochemical degradation (ECD)
  • Temperature range: -40°F to +275°F (-40°C to +135°C)
  • Suitable for coolant, water, and air applications
  • Approved for marine applications
  • Meets SAE 20R3 EC Class D1 specification

Gates recommends replacing hose clamps each time a new coolant hose is installed to ensure a leak-free seal and maximum system integrity.
