GPD 1814996 Ignition Knock Sensor Detonation Sensor

The GPD 1814996 is a direct-fit replacement ignition knock sensor, also commonly referred to as a detonation sensor. Mounted on the engine block, cylinder head, or intake manifold, this sensor monitors engine vibrations to detect pre-ignition and detonation events before they cause internal engine damage.

The knock sensor works by detecting the abnormal vibration signatures produced when the air-fuel mixture ignites prematurely or unevenly inside the combustion chamber. Once detected, it sends a signal to the engine control module (ECM), which adjusts ignition timing in real time to correct the condition and restore optimal combustion efficiency.

Key Features:

• Direct-fit OE replacement — engineered to match original equipment fit, form, and function
• Detects engine pre-ignition and detonation to protect against internal engine damage
• Signals the ECM to adjust ignition timing for optimal performance and fuel efficiency
• Manufactured by GPD (Global Parts Distributors), a trusted supplier of quality automotive replacement components
• Built to meet or exceed original equipment specifications for reliable, long-term performance

Replacing a faulty knock sensor restores the engine's ability to self-correct ignition timing, which helps maintain fuel economy, power output, and long-term engine health. The GPD 1814996 is a professional-grade replacement designed for a precise, trouble-free installation.
