GPD 1814986 Ignition Knock Detonation Sensor Replacement

The GPD 1814986 is a direct-fit ignition knock sensor (also known as a detonation sensor) designed to restore proper engine management function. The knock sensor is mounted on the engine block, cylinder head, or intake manifold and continuously monitors the engine for abnormal vibrations associated with pre-ignition or detonation events.

When detonation is detected, the sensor sends a signal to the engine control module (ECM), which adjusts ignition timing to protect the engine from damage. A failed or faulty knock sensor commonly triggers a check engine light and can result in reduced fuel economy, sluggish acceleration, and potential long-term engine harm.
