The Hella 011014821 is an OE-quality rain and light sensor designed to restore the automatic windshield wiper and ambient lighting control functions in vehicles equipped with these systems. How It Works:

Rain Detection: The sensor uses an optoelectronic measurement method, projecting a light beam through a prism onto the windshield surface. Raindrops alter the reflection properties, reducing the amount of light that returns to the photodiode receiver. The integrated evaluation electronics calculate precipitation intensity and send the appropriate signals to the wiper control module, automatically adjusting wiper speed and interval.

Light Detection: An optoelectronic detector continuously measures ambient light conditions using an upstream filter glass to distinguish between artificial light sources and natural daylight. Two independent sensors monitor ambient light over a wide spatial angle and forward-facing light intensity, enabling automatic activation and deactivation of the vehicle's exterior lighting.
