General Altimax Arctic Studable Winter Tire

The General Altimax Arctic 12 studable winter tire (also called a studdable snow tire) is built for passenger cars, minivans, crossovers and compact SUVs. It gives dependable traction on wet, snowy and icy roads. A winter-focused rubber compound stays flexible in cold temperatures, and a directional tread pattern supports confident braking and handling all winter.

Key Features:

• Studdable design: The tire is molded to accept optional TSMI #12 (11 mm) metallic winter studs where permitted. This adds ice traction in severe conditions.
• 3-Peak Mountain Snowflake symbol: The tire meets severe snow service requirements.
• Winter-specific compound: The compound is designed for grip in low temperatures and reliable braking on wet, snow or ice-covered roads.
• Directional tread with a rigid center rib: The rib gives solid on-center feel and steering response. Angled grooves channel water and slush away from the tread.
• Long-lasting treadwear: An optimized tread contour spreads pressure across the footprint for improved wear.
• Black sidewall: The tire uses a standard passenger-tire look and an extra load (XL) T-rated construction.

Winter tires like this one are intended for cold-weather use and are not recommended when temperatures are consistently above about 45°F. Check local regulations on stud use before installing studs.
