Clevite P-Series High Performance Connecting Rod Bearings

Clevite P-Series high performance connecting rod bearings (also called rod bearings or engine rod bearings) are the oldest members of the Clevite 77 performance bearing family. They are made for engine rebuilds where more demanding use is expected, such as heavy-duty, street performance and motorsports. They suit high-revving engines, especially those where high RPM narrows the rod bores.

Key Features:

• Tri-metal construction: a steel back supports a cast copper-lead lining. An electroplated babbitt overlay on the running surface gives good conformability and slipperiness.
• High eccentricity: compensates for rod bore distortion at high RPM.
• High crush: helps hold the bearing in place.
• Reduced overlay thickness: helps prevent overlay fatigue, sometimes called hen tracking.
• Hardened steel backing: adds strength and resistance to fretting.
• Oil flow: many applications have oil grooves that extend around both bearing halves.
• Variations: the line includes undersize and extra-clearance options and dowel-hole versions for use with aluminum rods.
