Trane Supplementary Electric Heater Assembly

Trane supplementary electric heater assemblies are field-installed accessory heat kits (also called electric heat kits or auxiliary electric heaters) for Trane and American Standard air handlers. They add electric resistance heating to an air handler that doesn't have a factory-installed heater. They are commonly used for supplemental heat with heat pump systems and for full electric heating.

Key Features:

• Designed and built by Trane for use in Trane air handlers. Trane documents that only Trane-built heaters are approved for use in its air handlers.
• Slides into the heater compartment of the air handler, so installation doesn't require major modification of the cabinet.
• Many models supply power directly to the air handler through the heater's own power supply, which removes the need for an additional circuit.
• Power and control wiring connect to the air handler through plug-in wire harnesses.
• Available in circuit breaker and lug (terminal block) configurations, depending on the model.
• Offered in a range of kW heating capacities to match different heating needs and air handler cabinet sizes.
• Retainer tabs and mounting hardware hold the heater securely in the compartment.

Each heater is part of a product line matched to specific Trane air handler families. Check the heater model number and the air handler nameplate heater data table to confirm the right heater for your unit. Electrical work should be done by qualified personnel and must meet local codes and the NEC.
