Water-Soluble Welding Consumables

At the heart of Aquasol's product line is its flagship water-soluble paper and tape, engineered to serve as purge dams during TIG (GTAW) and MIG (GMAW) welding of stainless steel and aluminum pipe. Composed of sodium carboxyl methyl cellulose and wood pulp, the material forms a low-air-permeability barrier that retains noble shielding gases — such as argon and helium — directly at the weld zone. When the job is done, the material dissolves completely in water or steam, leaving absolutely no residue behind inside the pipeline. This biodegradable design makes it especially valuable in nuclear, petrochemical, food and beverage, and pharmaceutical applications where contamination cannot be tolerated.

Advanced Pipe Purging Systems

Aquasol has expanded far beyond paper into a full ecosystem of pipe purging solutions. The patented EZ Purge® pre-formed water-soluble purge dams feature Zero Air Permeability (ZAP™) technology, allowing welders to set up a purge chamber in under a minute. For larger-diameter pipelines, the I-Purge and I-Purge X modular inflatable bladder systems provide a reusable, precision-fit alternative. The Opti-Purge® fast-inflation system extends this capability even further, accommodating pipe diameters from 48 to 84 inches with a unique one-piece, tri-flow design that rapidly creates an impermeable seal. Complementary products such as EZ Zone® aluminum purge gas retaining tape, FiBack fiberglass backing tape, and SoluGap® water-soluble spacer rings round out a workflow that covers every stage of the pipe welding process.

Monitoring & Precision Tools

Quality welds require more than just the right consumables — they require verified purge conditions. Aquasol addressed this need by developing the PRO OX-100, recognized as the welding industry's first app-enabled handheld oxygen monitor. CE-approved and capable of measuring down to 100 PPM (0.01%) oxygen resolution, it allows operators to confirm an oxygen-free environment before striking an arc, preventing weld discoloration and ensuring joint integrity.
