C.E. Smith 16272 Bearing Protector with Cover 2.328 Inch Chrome

The C.E. Smith 16272 Bearing Protector with Cover is designed to extend the life of your boat trailer's wheel bearings by preventing corrosion and contamination. This chrome-plated bearing protector system maintains a slightly positive pressure inside your trailer hubs to keep moisture, water, and road grit out—especially critical when launching and retrieving your boat.

How It Works:

When boat trailer hubs warm up during travel and are then backed into cool water at the launch ramp, the rapid temperature change creates a vacuum inside the hub. This vacuum can pull water and debris into the bearings, causing rapid wear and corrosion. The C.E. Smith bearing protector solves this problem with a spring-loaded piston that fills the hub with grease and maintains constant positive pressure, preventing contaminants from entering even when the hub is submerged.

Key Features:

• Fits hubs with 2.328-inch inner diameter
• Chrome-plated steel construction for corrosion resistance and durability
• Spring-loaded piston maintains positive pressure to keep water and debris out
• Built-in zerk fitting makes greasing bearings quick and easy
• Automatic pressure relief valve prevents over-filling and seal damage
• Custom-fitted PVC cover (bra) keeps road grime out and grease in
• Sold as a pair for one axle

These bearing protectors are essential preventive maintenance for any boat trailer, providing reliable protection against the harsh marine environment and extending bearing life significantly.
