BMR Suspension Control Arms: Precision-Engineered for Street, Strip, and Road Course
When factory suspension geometry stands between you and your performance goals, BMR Suspension control arms are the go-to upgrade for serious enthusiasts. Designed and proudly manufactured in the U.S.A., BMR's lineup of suspension control arms spans over 54 applications covering Ford Mustang, Chevrolet Camaro, GM F-Body, GM A-Body, G8, and more — addressing the fundamental weaknesses of OEM stamped-steel hardware through purpose-built tubular and boxed construction.
Why Stock Control Arms Fall Short
The problem with factory control arms is straightforward: stamped steel arms with soft rubber bushings deflect under load, absorbing power that should be transferred to the tires. Under hard cornering or aggressive launches, this deflection produces inconsistent wheel alignment, unpredictable handling, and wheel hop. BMR's control arms are engineered to eliminate that slop entirely.
Construction and Materials
BMR offers control arms in several configurations to match any performance level. Depending on the application, arms are CNC-machined and constructed from heavy-duty DOM steel tubing, chrome-moly steel, or 6061-T6 aluminum — giving builders the right balance of weight and strength for their specific use case. Tubular arms such as the TCA001 for GM F-Bodies are manufactured from heavy-duty 1 5/8-inch, 0.120-inch wall steel tubing, while boxed designs like the TCA032 for S197 Mustangs use 1x2-inch square-tube steel that comes in at five pounds lighter than the stock lower control arms.
All welding is performed using TIG or MIG processes, and laser-cut mounting plates and internally-gusseted end caps ensure precise fitment with no flex under load. For maximum-performance applications, BMR also offers chrome-moly tube adapters and CNC-machined chrome-moly center adjusters with rolled threads for the ultimate in strength and durability.
Bushing Options: Polyurethane, Delrin, and Spherical Bearings
BMR's control arms are available with three bushing types to match your priorities. Their signature internally fluted polyurethane bushings are greasable at 95-durometer and engineered so that grease evenly coats the inner sleeve, keeping the thrust surface lubricated for quiet, reliable operation over the life of the bushing. This design is compliant enough to absorb NVH for daily driving while remaining firm enough for hard launches and aggressive cornering.
For drag-race-focused builds, Delrin bushings eliminate virtually all deflection to maximize power transfer to the tires. At the top of the performance ladder, Teflon-lined Viking Performance spherical bearings offer the highest levels of articulation and bind-free suspension movement — ideal when NVH is not a priority and maximum repeatability is.
Adjustability for Lowered and Track-Prepared Vehicles
Many BMR control arms are offered in on-car adjustable configurations, making it straightforward to correct pinion angles, dial in camber, or adjust instant center for race applications. Adjustable models use TIG-welded chrome-moly tube adapters with a center-mounted adjuster, so geometry corrections can be made without removing the arm from the vehicle. Some redesigned lower control arm versions also feature multiple reinforced sway bar mounts for broad compatibility across suspension packages, along with additional wheel clearance for fitment with aftermarket wheel sizes.
Finishes, Fitment, and Platform Coverage
Every BMR control arm is finished in either black hammertone or red powdercoat for long-lasting protection and appearance. Installation typically ranges from one to three hours depending on the application. Whether you're building a dedicated drag car, a road-course-ready muscle car, or a street-performance driver that needs to tighten up the rear end, BMR's broad catalog of control arms offers a proven, bolt-in solution backed by their reputation in the performance suspension market.
