The COMP Cams Xtreme Energy CL01-427-8 is a high-performance hydraulic roller camshaft and lifter kit engineered specifically for Chevrolet Big Block Gen VI engines (454ci and 502ci, 1996-1999). This complete kit delivers aggressive street/strip performance with exceptional throttle response and top-end horsepower, making it ideal for bracket racing and high-performance street applications.

This camshaft features COMP Cams' aggressive Xtreme Energy lobe profile that produces quicker valve opening for increased responsiveness and more area under the lift curve compared to traditional grinds. The design delivers improved engine vacuum, which assists power brakes while allowing increased duration for enhanced performance. Works exceptionally well with large cubic inch engines and is optimized for bracket racing applications with upgraded components and a 3,500+ RPM stall converter.

Installation Notes:

  • Requires upgraded valve springs (not included)
  • Adjustable valvetrain required
  • Bronze tip fuel pump pushrod recommended when using high-pressure or high-volume fuel pumps
  • Best performance achieved with aftermarket intake manifolds, headers, and lower gear ratios
