Standard Motor Products SC518 Alternator Rectifier Bridge

The Standard Motor Products SC518 is a direct-fit replacement alternator rectifier bridge designed to restore proper charging system function. The rectifier bridge is a critical internal alternator component responsible for converting AC (alternating current) generated by the alternator into DC (direct current) used to charge the vehicle's battery and power its electrical systems.

Over time, alternator diodes within the rectifier bridge can fail due to heat, electrical stress, and demanding power loads. Common symptoms of a failing rectifier include dimming headlights, frequent engine stalls, a dead or undercharged battery, and charging system warning lights. Replacing just the rectifier bridge — rather than the entire alternator — is a cost-effective repair that restores full charging output.
