Billet Specialties: American-Made Precision Since 1985
Billet Specialties was founded in 1985 by Glenn Grozich, who set out at age 26 to craft accessories for the street rod and muscle car market that had simply never existed before. Operating out of La Grange Park, Illinois, the company quickly earned a reputation for an unmatched standard of fit and finish. That founding commitment — summed up in the company motto "History Re-defined by Styling" — has guided every product they have built in the four decades since.
From the very beginning, Billet Specialties staked its identity on a single material: aerospace-grade 6061-T6 aluminum, the same alloy used in spacecraft components. Every wheel, pulley, valve cover, and steering wheel starts as raw billet aluminum bar stock or plate, then passes through multiple CNC machining operations guided by millions of lines of precision code. Design and engineering happen entirely in-house, giving the team tight control over every detail before a product ever ships. The result is a line of components that are as visually arresting as they are structurally sound.
Wheels: The Foundation of the Brand
Custom billet aluminum wheels are where Billet Specialties first made its name, and the category remains the cornerstone of the lineup. With two- and three-piece constructions ranging from 15 to 26 inches in diameter, the wheels are offered across dozens of spoke styles — from the classic Legends Series built for muscle cars and street rods to the Original Equipment Series engineered to clear modern big-brake setups. Each center is individually machined to the customer's specified offset and backspacing, making every set a genuinely custom product.
Cockpit and Control: Steering Wheels
Inside the cabin, Billet Specialties steering wheels bring the same machined-aluminum craftsmanship to the driver's hands. Available in polished, black-anodized, and other finishes across multiple spoke configurations, these wheels are built around a standard 9-bolt mount pattern that simplifies installation across a wide range of street rods, muscle cars, and custom builds. Horn buttons and hub adapters round out the interior accessory line.
Engine Dress-Up: Valve Covers and Pulley Systems
Under the hood, Billet Specialties offers some of the most recognizable engine dress-up components in the hot rod world. Their polished engine valve covers are CNC-machined from high-grade aluminum and available in short and tall heights to suit a variety of engine configurations — each one inspected for finish quality before it leaves the facility.
Complementing the valve covers is the brand's acclaimed Tru Trac serpentine system, which brings the entire front-drive accessory package into the billet aluminum family. That system naturally encompasses power steering pump pulleys and a full suite of pulleys — crank, alternator, idler, and more — all machined to tight tolerances for proper belt alignment and long service life. The Tru Trac system is widely regarded as one of the cleanest and most complete serpentine conversion solutions available for classic GM applications.
