Product Details

The COMP Cams 5005 lifter bore grooving tool cuts a groove into the lifter bore. The groove helps pressurized oil reach the area between the lifter and the camshaft. It is made for engine blocks with .875" lifter bores.

Key Features:

  • Cuts a groove in the lifter bore to feed oil to the contact area between lifter and camshaft
  • Developed by NASCAR engine builders to reduce camshaft and lifter wear
  • Helps lower the risk of premature failure during cam break-in
  • Sized for .875" lifter bores
  • Cutting depth is adjustable with a set screw in the top of the tool body

The tool works best on a fully disassembled block that sits on the floor or an engine stand. Check that the tool diameter matches the lifter bore diameter before use. Do not twist or turn the tool while it is in the bore.
