What Makes Skyjacker Leaf Springs Different?

The difference starts at the material level. The process begins with 5160H chromium alloy material, an advanced method of shot peening, and a presetting process. Skyjacker® leaf springs are individually shot-peened with hard steel pellets at very high velocities, which compresses the surface of the steel, thereby increasing the tensile strength of the spring.

The geometry of each spring is equally deliberate. Skyjacker® Softride® springs are tapered, creating more flex at the leaf ends — a design that distributes loads more evenly over a greater area and reduces the tendency for one leaf to dig into the leaf above it. This translates directly to a smoother, more controlled ride both on and off the trail.

Hardware matters too. Teflon® wear pads between leafs and bolt-style spring clips prevent binding and eliminate friction. Softride® springs use "bolt" style spring clips that eliminate friction, unlike other spring designs that use "cinch" style bend clips, which bend tightly over the spring leafs causing binding.

Full Replacement Springs and Add-A-Leaf Options

Skyjacker's leaf spring lineup covers two distinct upgrade paths. Their full-replacement Softride® springs are designed to deliver a complete transformation in ride height and quality, and rear Softride® springs are used to complete the "system" in a Skyjacker® suspension lift. For drivers who want to enhance or restore an existing spring pack, Skyjacker® front and rear Add-A-Leafs are an inexpensive way to achieve additional body clearance while helping maintain desired vehicle height and prevent spring sagging for continued safe handling and steering control.

Add-A-Leafs are available in two styles: a full-length Softride® and a short-length Heavy Duty. The Softride® add-a-leaf is designed to be inserted into the current spring system, installed under the top main leaf to better control spring rate and ride quality. The Heavy Duty add-a-leaf is designed for ease of installation and does not require complete disassembly of the existing spring system.
