Engineering Details That Matter

Professional Products' dampers are engineered with real-world installation flexibility in mind. Their dampers feature two keyways—a 1/4" and a 3/16" keyway—allowing the 1/4" keyway to correctly position the damper on a production crank so that the timing pointer aligns with the 0° top dead center mark. This dual-keyway design accommodates both factory and aftermarket cranks without guesswork.

For externally balanced engines, Professional Products has addressed a common aftermarket shortcoming head-on. Many aftermarket externally balanced dampers do not have the counterweight properly positioned nor is the weight correct—a problem Professional Products has engineered out of their lineup. Their Chevy dampers for both small and big block engines are available in internally and externally balanced versions, and if you have an internally balanced model and want to use it on an externally balanced engine, the proper counterweight can be bolted in, and conversely, an externally balanced damper can be converted to internal by removing the weight.

Their Small Block Ford dampers are designed with more universal features than competing dampers and are made to the early short length, making them ideal for chassis-clearance-sensitive swaps involving late 5.0L engines in early body styles.
