Pollak Ignition Switch
Pollak Ignition Switches: Engineered for Demanding Applications
When reliable engine starting is non-negotiable, Pollak ignition switches stand out as a trusted solution across automotive, heavy truck, marine, RV, construction, and agricultural applications. Ignition switches are the gateway to every engine start, and Pollak has spent over a century engineering them to perform when it matters most.
A Legacy Built on Electrical Engineering Excellence
Since 1909, Pollak has provided the transportation industry with innovative designs, reliable manufacturing, high quality standards, and competitive pricing. Manufactured in TS16949- and ISO14001-certified plants, Pollak engineers, manufactures, and distributes a wide range of engine management and electro-mechanical products, including switches and related items. Pollak is a certified ISO9001/QS9000 manufacturer that earned Q1 preferred status at Ford, General Motors' Mark of Excellence, Chrysler's Gold Pentastar, Navistar V, and similar rankings with PACCAR, Freightliner, John Deere, Case, Caterpillar, and other respected OEMs.
What Sets Pollak Ignition Switches Apart
Pollak's ignition switch lineup is purpose-built with features that reflect decades of field-proven refinement. Their switches feature a one-piece zinc die-cast housing with solid copper contacts and internally lubricated wiring for long life. Weather-resistant seals and a patented starter lockout feature prevent restarting a running vehicle — a critical safety element for heavy-duty and commercial equipment. Switches are available in different base styles and types with brass terminals and mounting hardware, making fitment straightforward across a wide range of platforms.
Versatile Position Options and Application Coverage
Pollak ignition and starter switches are available with two, three, and four position circuitry and can be used for energizing any appropriate low voltage equipment. For example, their 4-position universal-style switches are rated at 12 volt, 30 amps and are packaged with keys and mounting hardware for a complete install. For boaters and watercraft owners, solid brass ignition switches are also available for a variety of marine applications, featuring glass-filled Delrin housing, stainless steel terminals, a molded Velox base, and a special weatherproofing seal and drain hole.
Heavy-Duty and Specialized Switch Lines
Pollak's lineup also extends to specialized configurations for demanding environments. Their special high-power starter switches offer a separate accessory position for glow plug warming, popular D250 keyed-alike and lever switch options, a durable die-cast housing, and long-lasting copper terminals for extended cycle life. The 3-position 7-blade ignition switch (such as the 31-285P) adds an O-ring sealed base with positions for Off, On/Acc, and Start — a layout commonly found in modern automotive and fleet applications.
Backed by Standard Motor Products
Following Stoneridge's more than 30 years of ownership, in April 2019, Standard Motor Products formally announced the acquisition of the Pollak business. Additional products continue to be added as the company increases its focus on the OE and aftermarket industries in the heavy truck, off-highway, RV, towing, construction, marine, and agricultural industries. This backing gives Pollak access to extensive engineering resources and quality control infrastructure, reinforcing the dependability that professionals and enthusiasts have come to expect from every ignition switch bearing the Pollak name.
