ACDelco 19178634 Manual Transmission Reverse Lockout Solenoid

The ACDelco 19178634 Manual Transmission Reverse Lockout Solenoid is a GM Genuine Parts original equipment component designed to prevent inadvertent shifts into reverse at speeds above 3-5 mph. This critical safety feature is commonly found in T56 and TR6060 manual transmissions used in high-performance Cadillac, Chevrolet, and Pontiac vehicles.

Key Features:

• GM Original Equipment quality for precise fit, form, and function
• Electronically controlled solenoid that mechanically blocks reverse gear engagement when activated
• Prevents accidental reverse shifts during forward motion, enhancing driver safety
• Replaces GM part number 12523300
• 24-month/unlimited mile limited warranty on parts
• Manufactured to rigorous GM OE specifications

When the ignition is on, battery voltage is supplied directly to the solenoid. At speeds above 3-5 mph, the PCM grounds the control circuit, energizing the solenoid and mechanically blocking the shift lever from entering reverse. Common symptoms of a failing reverse lockout solenoid include difficulty engaging reverse gear, excessive resistance when shifting into reverse, or the ability to shift into reverse with the ignition off. This solenoid is mounted on top of the manual transmission and is sold individually.
