MSD 8598 Ford 289/302 Pro-Billet Distributor with Steel Gear

The MSD 8598 Pro-Billet Distributor is a precision-engineered performance ignition distributor built for small block Ford 289 and 302 engines equipped with hydraulic roller camshafts. Featuring a CNC machined 6061-T6 billet aluminum housing machined to within +/- 1/1,000 in., this distributor delivers the accuracy and durability demanded by high-performance and race applications. Includes a steel gear compatible with hydraulic roller cams. Note: Must be used with an MSD 6, 7, or 8-series external ignition control box.

• CNC machined billet aluminum housing with DuPont Rynite base for a stable, lightweight, flex-resistant foundation
• Polished steel distributor shaft is QPQ coated for friction reduction and guided by a sealed upper ball bearing plus a long sintered bushing to prevent shaft wobble at high RPM
• Easy-to-adjust mechanical advance assembly fine blanked from chrome moly steel, TIG welded for strength, and QPQ coated — adjustable with supplied springs and stop bushings for custom advance curve tuning
• Mechanical advance can be locked out for use with external crank trigger systems
• Advance weight pins are staked and TIG welded to the plate for maximum durability
• Nylon pads on advance weights ensure smooth, consistent advance operation
• Maintenance-free magnetic pickup and precision reluctor deliver stable trigger signals throughout the RPM range, rated for operation up to 10,000 RPM
• Supplied with Cap-A-Dapt and rotor — accepts MSD socket-style caps
• Steel gear compatible with hydraulic roller camshaft applications
