The Airtex 5S1491 is a direct-fit replacement engine coolant temperature (ECT) sensor engineered to meet or exceed original equipment specifications. Designed as a plug-in replacement, this sensor restores accurate coolant temperature monitoring to your vehicle's engine management system.

The engine coolant temperature sensor plays a critical role in engine operation. It continuously measures coolant temperature and relays that data to the engine control module (ECM), which uses the signal to regulate fuel injection, ignition timing, variable valve timing, and transmission shifting. A failed or inaccurate sensor can cause poor fuel economy, erratic temperature gauge readings, or trigger diagnostic trouble codes such as P0116, P0117, or P0118.
