The COMP Cams SK35-462-8 Magnum hydraulic roller camshaft small kit is an aggressive performance upgrade designed for Ford 351W engines (1969-1996) that did not come factory-equipped with hydraulic roller camshafts. This retrofit kit delivers significant power gains with the distinctive Pro Street sound enthusiasts demand.

Performance Characteristics:

This Magnum series cam is engineered for street/strip applications and performance-oriented vehicles that will see limited street use. The hydraulic roller design dramatically reduces friction and lifter wear while allowing for increased lift and a greater area under the curve, delivering superior top-end power without sacrificing bottom-end torque. The aggressive profile will produce a noticeable rough or "rumbly" idle characteristic.

Recommended Combination:

  • 4-speed manual transmission or automatic with 3,200+ RPM stall converter
  • Rear axle gear ratio of 4.10:1 or lower (numerically higher)
  • Higher compression ratio (9.5:1 or greater recommended)
  • Performance intake manifold and headers
  • Upgraded valve springs (required)

Important Notes:

This camshaft requires supporting modifications to perform properly. Stock components including torque converter, rear axle gears, and exhaust headers are incompatible. Power accessories may be affected to some extent. Not compatible with EFI applications. CARB exempt for racing and off-road only vehicles.
