Cometic C5273-040 MLS Cylinder Head Gasket Chevy Small Block Bore - for V8 4.200

The Cometic C5273-040 is a Multi-Layer Steel (MLS) cylinder head gasket engineered specifically for first-generation Chevrolet Small Block V8 engines. This high-performance gasket features a compressed thickness of .040 inches and accommodates a 4.200-inch bore diameter, making it ideal for performance builds and engine rebuilds requiring precise sealing and durability.

Key Features:

• Multi-Layer Steel (MLS) construction for superior sealing and durability under high-performance conditions
• .040" compressed gasket thickness for precise compression ratio tuning
• 4.200" bore diameter accommodates stock and slightly overbored applications
• Designed for 18-degree and 23-degree cylinder heads
• Valve pocketed bore design provides clearance for larger valve applications
• Integrated steam holes for proper coolant circulation
• Compatible with Chevrolet Gen-1 Small Block V8 engines (262-400 cubic inch)

Cometic MLS gaskets utilize multiple layers of stainless steel with a viton rubber coating, providing excellent recovery characteristics and the ability to withstand extreme cylinder pressures. The embossed sealing beads around combustion chambers and fluid passages ensure consistent sealing across the entire head surface, even on slightly imperfect deck surfaces. This gasket is designed for engines with performance cylinder heads and is suitable for street, strip, and racing applications.
