The MSD 8615 Flying Magnet Crank Trigger Kit delivers race-proven ignition timing stability for Small Block Chevy engines equipped with an 8-inch harmonic balancer. Unlike conventional crank trigger systems that rely on steel studs and a magnetic pickup — which can be falsely triggered by nearby bolts, debris, or vibration — the MSD Flying Magnet design embeds four powerful magnets directly into a billet aluminum trigger wheel. As the crankshaft rotates, those magnets pass a stationary non-magnetic pickup, producing clean, accurate trigger signals every time without the risk of false triggering.
