Mars Potential Relay

The Mars potential relay (also called a start relay or motor starting relay) is a voltage-sensing relay for single-phase compressor and motor starting circuits in HVAC and refrigeration equipment. It works with a start capacitor. The relay keeps the capacitor connected to the motor's start winding while the motor accelerates. Once the motor reaches running speed, the relay drops the capacitor out of the circuit.

Key Features:

• Potential (voltage-sensing) design for motor starting applications
• Each model has its own pick-up and drop-out voltage so it can be matched to the motor or compressor it replaces
• Rated for 60 Hz operation
• Screw-type terminals on the relay models in this line
• Used as a replacement for original-equipment start relays in air conditioning, refrigeration and similar motor applications
• Mars cross-reference numbering (such as Mars 65, 66 and 69) makes it easier to match a relay to the original part

Mars is a well-known supplier of HVAC/R electrical components. Choose the model in this family whose coil voltage and pick-up/drop-out ratings match your original relay.
