Trane SPST Start Relay for HVAC Systems

The Trane SPST start relay (also called a compressor start relay or potential relay) is an OEM-style electrical control part for residential and commercial HVAC systems. It is a single-pole, single-throw (SPST) relay. Its job is to switch the high current needed when a compressor or motor starts, so the system starts reliably when it calls for cooling.

Key Features:

• Single-pole, single-throw (SPST) switching design for compressor and motor start circuits
• Engages the start circuit at startup and drops out once the motor is up to speed, which helps protect the motor windings
• Built to Trane original-equipment specifications for use in Trane HVAC equipment
• Compact body that mounts easily in the control section of the unit
• Coil, pick-up and drop-out ratings are matched to specific Trane equipment. Check the individual part number for its exact electrical specifications.

A working start relay helps the compressor start smoothly and reduces electrical stress on the motor. Replacing a worn relay can help restore dependable starting in Trane air conditioners and heat pumps.
