Goodyear Belts & Hoses 55198 Automatic Serpentine Belt Tensioner Assembly

The Goodyear Belts & Hoses 55198 automatic belt tensioner (also called a serpentine belt tensioner or drive belt tensioner assembly) supports your engine's accessory belt drive. It keeps the belt at the correct tension while the engine runs.

Key Features:

• Automatic tensioning mechanism adjusts continuously to hold proper belt tension across operating conditions
• Helps dampen torsional vibrations from the crankshaft, which extends belt life
• Precision-made pulley keeps the belt aligned
• Built from durable materials such as steel, aluminum and high-strength polymers, with protective coatings
• Sealed, low-friction bearing designs reduce wear, noise and vibration
• Helps accessories such as the alternator, power steering pump and A/C compressor run efficiently

High-mileage engines often lose belt drive efficiency from worn bearings, improper tension and misalignment. Replacing the tensioner assembly restores correct belt tension and helps prevent belt slip and noise.
