Forney Welding Stubby Left Hand Drill Bit HSS

Forney stubby left hand drill bits are made from high speed steel (HSS) for drilling out and removing broken studs, bolts and screws. These screw machine length (stubby) twist drills turn counterclockwise in a reversing drill. In many cases the left hand rotation grips the broken fastener and spins it out while you drill. That can save you from using a separate screw extractor.

Key Features:

• Left hand twist design: Cuts in reverse to help back out broken fasteners instead of tightening them.
• Stubby (screw machine) length: The short length gives better control, less flex and access in tight spaces.
• 118-degree split point: Helps the bit start accurately, resist walking and cut efficiently.
• High speed steel construction: Provides strength and wear resistance for drilling metal.
• Surface treated, bright finish: Helps extend tool life.

How to Use: Use a reversing drill set to counterclockwise rotation. If the broken piece does not back out on its own, the hole you drilled can serve as a pilot hole for an extractor.

These bits suit automotive repair, machinery maintenance and general shop work where broken fasteners need to come out without damaging the surrounding threads.
