Broan-NuTone Automatic Make-Up Air Damper Direct Wired

The Broan-NuTone Automatic Make-Up Air Damper (Direct Wired) is an interlocked make-up air damper. It lets outdoor air into the home when a compatible range hood or exhaust fan is running. This helps the exhaust device work at its best and keeps the home comfortable. It is also called a direct-wire make-up air damper, MUA damper or range hood makeup air damper.

Key Features:

• Interlocked operation: The damper is normally closed. It opens automatically when the connected range hood or exhaust fan is activated, and it closes when the fan is turned off.
• Direct-wire design: A low-voltage, hard-wired connection runs between the exhaust device and the damper through a transformer. This gives reliable signaling without a separate control.
• Balances indoor air pressure: Replacing exhausted air helps avoid negative pressure. Negative pressure can interfere with exhaust equipment and combustion appliances.
• Helps meet code: Interlocked make-up air systems can be used to satisfy International Residential Code (IRC) make-up air requirements for high-CFM range hoods.
• Energy-conscious: Unlike barometric solutions, the damper does not let unwanted air into the home during heating or cooling.
• Expandable: Broan slave dampers can be interlocked to the main damper. They open and close in unison, which supports higher make-up air volumes.
• Foam seal: The seal helps limit air leakage when the damper is closed.

Direct-wired models work with select compatible Broan, NuTone and BEST range hoods that are MD-capable. Fresh air wall caps are required for use with make-up air dampers. This damper suits kitchen, bath and whole-house ventilation applications.
