Tow Rite Nylon Lock Nut UNF Thread

Tow Rite Nylon Lock Nuts with UNF (Unified National Fine) threads are nylon-insert lock nuts, also called nyloc nuts, nylon-insert stop nuts or elastic stop nuts. They are a self-locking fastener for applications where vibration could loosen a standard nut.

Key Features:

• Nylon locking collar: A nylon insert at the end of the nut has a slightly smaller inner diameter than the bolt. It grips the threads by friction and resists backing off.
• UNF fine thread: Unified National Fine threads have more threads per inch than coarse threads. They allow finer adjustment and are generally somewhat stronger under static loading.
• Vibration resistance: The prevailing-torque design helps hold the fastener in place without a separate thread-locking compound.
• Seal against seepage: The nylon collar also helps seal the threads against moisture and fluids.

Installation Notes:

• Match the nut thread size and pitch to the bolt or stud.
• Start the nut by hand to avoid cross-threading.
• Install with the nylon collar facing away from the joint.
• Make sure the bolt extends fully through the nylon insert.
• Follow the torque recommendations for your application.

Tow Rite nylon lock nuts suit trailer, towing and general hardware applications that need a secure, vibration-resistant fastener. They are not a wheel lug nut.
