Standard Motor Products Ambient Light Sensor

The Standard Motor Products Ambient Light Sensor (also called an automatic headlight sensor, sunload sensor or light level sensor) detects the amount of light outside the vehicle. The vehicle's control modules use that information to manage automatic lighting and climate control functions.

Key Features:

• Detects changes in ambient light so that automatic headlights and instrument panel lighting can adjust
• Can also support automatic climate control by measuring sunload on the cabin
• Built as a replacement for the original sensor, with the goal of matching its form, fit and function
• Plug-in installation in most applications, with no special programming in many cases
• Made by Standard Motor Products, a long-established supplier of engine management, electrical and temperature control parts

A faulty ambient light sensor can cause headlights that fail to switch on or off automatically, a dashboard that doesn't dim correctly, or erratic climate control behavior. Replacing it restores these automatic functions.
