MAHLE H-Series Connecting Rod Bearing - Narrowed

MAHLE H-Series narrowed connecting rod bearings (also called rod bearings or engine rod bearings) are high-performance tri-metal bearings. They are for engine builders and rebuilders who want a dependable bearing for performance and racing builds. The undersize versions fit crankshafts that have been machined below standard journal diameter.

• Narrowed design: The bearing is narrowed on one edge. This gives more crankshaft fillet clearance than the older large-chamfer H-Series design, and the bearing's operating surface area stays the same.
• Tri-metal construction: A cast copper-lead alloy layer sits on a steel backing and is finished with an electroplated babbitt overlay. The steel provides strength and durability. The overlay gives the surface slipperiness and conformability.
• High crush: High crush helps the bearing seat well and stay in place in the rod bore.
• Medium eccentricity: This makes the H-Series a good starting point when you are unsure which bearing to choose.

Installation notes: Always check side clearance on any new bearing and crankshaft combination. MAHLE advises against mixing narrowed (HN) and non-narrowed H-Series bearings in the same engine, because the weight difference can cause journal-to-journal unbalance.
