PPG Deltron DPX172/01 Non-Chrome Self Etching Primer Catalyst Gallon

The PPG Deltron DPX172/01 is a one-gallon catalyst designed to activate the DPX171 Non-Chrome Self Etching Primer system. This two-component etching primer system is a professional-grade, non-chrome formulation widely used in automotive and collision repair refinishing applications.

Key Features:

• One-gallon catalyst (activator) for the DPX171 Non-Chrome Self Etching Primer
• Mixed at a straightforward 1:1 ratio with DPX171 primer
• Non-chrome formula — eliminates the need for chromate-based materials
• Designed for use over bare steel, galvanized steel, and aluminum substrates
• Promotes excellent adhesion for subsequent urethane primer/surfacer or sealer topcoats
• Compatible with HVLP and compliant spray equipment (8–10 psi at air cap for HVLP; 29–40 psi at gun for compliant)
• 24-hour pot life at 70°F (21°C) — pot life decreases as temperature rises
• PPG recommends application in a single wet coat

The DPX172 catalyst is suitable for professional body shop use on new panels, partial repairs, and refinishing projects involving galvanized or bare metal surfaces. For large-surface applications or high-temperature/high-humidity conditions, the DPX173 Slow Catalyst is an alternative option. Always apply in accordance with local VOC regulations.
