PPG DPX171/01 Deltron Non-Chrome Self Etching Primer - 1 Gallon

The PPG Deltron DPX171/01 is a professional-grade, non-chrome self etching primer formulated for automotive refinishing applications. Available in a convenient one-gallon size, this catalyzed primer is engineered to chemically bond to bare metal substrates, establishing a corrosion-resistant foundation for subsequent sealer and topcoat systems.

Key Features:

• Non-chrome formula — a safer alternative to traditional chromate-based etch primers
• Excellent adhesion to bare steel, aluminum, and galvanized metal surfaces
• Catalyzed two-component system — requires DPX172 Catalyst mixed at a 1:1 ratio
• Provides a heavier film build than wash primers for improved surface coverage
• Compatible with PPG Deltron sealer and topcoat refinish systems (e.g., DPS3055 sealer)
• Designed for application in one wet coat as recommended by PPG
• Part of the PPG Deltron National Rule refinish product line

Application Notes:

• Do not apply DP or DPLF Epoxy Primer directly over DPX171
• When applying a sealer over DPX171, a minimum of 1.0 mil of sealer is required
• Optimum sealer dry time to topcoat is 15–45 minutes at 70°F (21°C); if exceeded, allow an overnight dry before topcoating
• Must be blended with catalyst components before use — review all label warnings prior to mixing
• Proper respiratory protection and spray equipment safety procedures must be followed

The PPG DPX171/01 self etching primer is a trusted solution used by professional body shops for refinishing galvanized steel, bare metal repair areas, and full panel preparation, delivering the adhesion and corrosion resistance required in a professional paint system.
