The 5 Star Advantage 8701-1 is a Premium Single Stage High Solids Topcoat in Hot Rod Black Satin — a classic, low-sheen black finish popular for custom automotive, fleet, and industrial refinishing applications. Formulated as a 2.8 VOC acrylic urethane, this high-solids coating delivers a durable, professional-grade finish in a single application step, eliminating the need for a separate clear coat.

This gallon kit contains 0.75 gallons of paint and is mixed at a 3:1 ratio with a compatible activator/hardener (sold separately or included depending on kit configuration). Pot life is approximately 2 hours at 70°F, providing ample working time for larger jobs. Coverage is approximately 400–450 sq. ft. per 0.75 gallon at 1 dry mil.

The 8701-1 is suited for automotive bodywork, implements and trailers, industrial equipment, structural steel, and marine vessels. For best adhesion and performance, apply over 5 Star Advantage DTM Primer. An adhesion promoter mid-coat is recommended when applying Hot Rod Black Satin over previously painted or OEM surfaces.
