Auto Transmiss Parts CA-1931 Automatic Transmission Detent Cable

The Auto Transmiss Parts CA-1931 is a direct-fit replacement automatic transmission detent cable, also known as a kickdown or TV cable. Detent cables connect the throttle mechanism to the automatic transmission, triggering a downshift to a lower gear under hard acceleration for improved passing power and hill-climbing performance.

Key Features:

• OE-specification construction restores proper transmission operation and shift feel
• High tensile strength steel inner cable provides long-lasting durability under mechanical stress
• Protective polymer outer housing shields the cable from debris, moisture, and abrasion for smooth, consistent operation
• Includes necessary hardware — cable ends, brackets, and grommet where applicable — for a complete repair
• Drop-in replacement design for straightforward installation

Over time, detent cables can bind, stretch, or break, causing delayed or improper downshifts. Replacing a worn cable with the CA-1931 restores precise kickdown control and helps protect the transmission from the strain of sluggish or missed gear changes. This cable is also commonly referenced as part number CA1931.
