Wells 5S5010 Throttle Position Sensor TPS Engine Management

The Wells 5S5010 Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) is a direct-fit replacement sensor engineered to meet or exceed original equipment manufacturer specifications for performance and durability. Designed by Wells Vehicle Electronics — a century-long leader in automotive electrical components — this sensor restores precise throttle feedback to the engine control module (ECM).

The throttle position sensor monitors the angle of the throttle plate as the accelerator pedal is depressed, transmitting a voltage signal to the ECM. The ECM uses this data to regulate fuel delivery, ignition timing, and transmission shift points for optimal engine performance.

Key Features:

• Engineered to meet or exceed OE performance and durability standards
• Monitors throttle blade position within the throttle body and communicates it to the engine control module
• Precise voltage signal output supports accurate fuel metering, ignition timing, and transmission control
• Built to resist heat and vibration for long-lasting, reliable operation
• Designed for straightforward installation onto the throttle body

Why Replace Your Throttle Position Sensor?

A failing TPS can cause a range of drivability problems including hesitation, stalling, surging, and no-start conditions. It may also trigger the Check Engine Light (CEL), Service Engine Soon (SES), or Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL), and set diagnostic trouble codes (P-codes) in the ECM. Replacing a worn or faulty throttle position sensor with a quality unit like the Wells 5S5010 restores proper throttle response and drivability.
