Wells 5S5620 Ignition Knock (Detonation) Sensor

The Wells 5S5620 Ignition Knock (Detonation) Sensor, also called a knock sensor or detonation sensor, monitors engine vibration caused by pre-ignition. It sends that data to the engine control module so the module can adjust ignition timing and injection pulse width. This helps protect the engine from damage.

Key Features:

• Detects pre-ignition, which happens when the air/fuel mixture ignites before the spark plug fires
• Gives the engine control module the data it needs to adjust ignition timing and injection pulse width
• Engineered and tested by Wells Vehicle Electronics to meet or exceed OE parts in fit, form and function
• Usually bolted or threaded into the side of the engine block or under the intake manifold

A failing knock sensor can cause a knocking or rattling sound, poor fuel economy, poor acceleration, higher emissions or a failed emissions test, and an illuminated check engine light. Replacing a worn sensor helps restore normal engine management.
