Caliso 22373 Thermal Engine Cooling Fan Clutch

The Caliso 22373 is a thermal engine cooling fan clutch designed as a direct-fit replacement for vehicles equipped with an engine-driven cooling fan. This type of fan clutch uses a temperature-sensitive bimetal coil spring on the front face that reacts to heat radiating from the engine's cooling system, automatically modulating fan speed to match cooling demand.

When the engine bay temperature rises, the bimetal spring expands and opens an internal valve, allowing silicone fluid to flow into the working chamber and engage the fan at higher speed for increased airflow. As temperatures drop, the spring contracts, the valve closes, and the clutch slips — reducing fan speed to minimize parasitic drag on the engine and improve fuel efficiency.

Key Features:

• Thermal design automatically adjusts fan speed based on engine temperature
• Silicone fluid coupling provides smooth, progressive fan engagement
• Reduces unnecessary parasitic engine load when full cooling is not required
• Direct-fit replacement design for straightforward installation
• Helps prevent engine overheating during low-speed and high-load conditions
• Manufacturer Part Number: 22373

Replacing a worn or failed fan clutch restores proper cooling system function and can eliminate symptoms such as engine overheating at idle, poor air conditioning performance, excessive fan noise, and reduced fuel economy caused by a seized or slipping clutch.
