Caliso 22302 Thermal Engine Cooling Fan Clutch

The Caliso 22302 is a thermal engine cooling fan clutch designed as a direct replacement for worn or failed OEM units. Thermal fan clutches are a critical component of the engine cooling system, regulating radiator fan speed in response to underhood temperatures to maintain optimal engine operating conditions.

Unlike non-thermal (torque-limiting) fan clutches, the Caliso 22302 uses a temperature-sensitive bimetal coil spring mounted on the front of the clutch body. As hot air passes through the radiator and across the spring, the coil expands and opens an internal valve, allowing silicone fluid to flow into the working area of the clutch. This engages the fan at higher speeds when cooling demand is greatest. When the engine cools, the spring contracts, closes the valve, and the fan slips back to a reduced speed — reducing parasitic drag on the engine and improving fuel efficiency.
