Wiseco VerticalGasPort High-Performance Piston Ring Sealing Technology

Wiseco's VerticalGasPort technology is an advanced piston engineering feature designed to maximize ring seal and combustion efficiency in high-performance and racing engines. Vertical gas ports are precisely machined channels drilled through the top ring land of the piston, allowing combustion pressure to act directly behind the top compression ring.

How It Works:

When combustion gases enter the vertical gas ports, they pressurize the area behind the top ring, forcing it outward against the cylinder wall with greater force. This dramatically improves ring-to-wall contact and sealing, reducing blow-by and maintaining cylinder pressure — especially critical at high RPM where ring flutter can become a performance-limiting factor.

Key Features & Benefits:

• Improved Ring Seal: Combustion pressure is harnessed to actively force the top ring outward, improving gas sealing across the RPM range
• Reduced Blow-By: Tighter ring-to-wall seal minimizes combustion gases escaping past the piston into the crankcase
• Increased Power Output: Better cylinder pressure retention translates directly to improved horsepower and torque
• Reduced Ring Flutter: Especially effective at high RPM where conventional rings may lose consistent wall contact
• Race-Proven Design: Widely used in professional motorsports and high-performance engine builds
• Precision Machined: Ports are CNC-drilled to exacting tolerances as part of Wiseco's forging and finishing process

Wiseco's VerticalGasPort technology is available on select forged piston applications and is an ideal upgrade for turbocharged, supercharged, nitrous, or naturally aspirated engines demanding maximum performance and reliability.
