Amana-Goodman LAKT01AC Low Ambient Kit for Heat Pumps and A/C Condensers

The Amana-Goodman LAKT01AC Low Ambient Kit is a field-installed accessory designed to allow heat pump and air conditioning condensing units to continue cooling operation during cold outdoor conditions. Without this kit, cooling performance can degrade significantly or shut down entirely when outdoor temperatures fall below the manufacturer's minimum operating threshold — typically around 55°F.

This kit works by automatically slowing the condenser fan motor to maintain proper head pressure by varying airflow across the outdoor condenser coil. A thermistor probe continuously monitors the liquid temperature at the coil and signals the control to adjust motor speed, preventing coil icing and maintaining stable refrigerant pressures throughout the system.
