Sonnax 72960-18K Smart-Tech Overdrive Clutch Housing Kit with Clutch Pack

The Sonnax 72960-18K Smart-Tech overdrive clutch housing kit is an upgrade for the overdrive clutch in the 68RFE automatic transmission. It is designed to protect against overdrive clutch burnup in trucks that pull heavy loads or make extra power. It replaces the stock overdrive/reverse housing and clutch pack, and it includes frictions and steels.

Key Features:

• Billet aluminum housing holds a physically taller clutch pack for 20% more clutch capacity
• 16% more overdrive apply area for firmer, more controlled shifts
• Steel plates 2X thicker than stock, plus double-sided clutches, raise steel mass by 28% for better heat dissipation
• Custom BorgWarner friction clutches, optimized for the 68RFE overdrive application, for high capacity and squawk resistance
• Bolt-on anchor plate helps prevent clutch pack flexing and distortion that contribute to heat build-up

Kit Includes:

• Overdrive/reverse housing
• Lip seal
• Adapter sleeve
• UD/OD reaction plate
• (5) steel clutch plates
• (6) custom BorgWarner friction clutch plates
• (2) anchor plate shims
• Bolt-on anchor plate
• (18) screws
• Chisel

The manufacturer lists OE part number 68029262AA for this kit. It can be combined with the Sonnax line pressure booster kit RFE-LB1, sold separately, for even higher performance.
