Michelin 56040 XZX Radial Tire 145SR15 78S Blackwall Classic

The Michelin XZX 145SR15 is a classic radial tire designed specifically for vintage European automobiles requiring authentic period-correct styling with modern reliability. This iconic tire features Michelin's legendary XZX tread pattern that debuted in 1975 as an evolution of the groundbreaking ZX design.

Key Features:

• 145SR15 size with 78S load and speed rating (937 lbs max load per tire, 112 mph)
• Classic blackwall sidewall styling for authentic vintage appearance
• Two large circumferential grooves for excellent water drainage and hydroplaning resistance
• Continuous lateral grooves extending from center tread to shoulders
• High-density sipe pattern providing exceptional lateral grip on wet and snow-covered surfaces
• Radial construction with single-ply polyester casing and dual steel belts
• Nylon reinforcement ply for enhanced handling response and high-speed durability
• Maximum inflation pressure of 51 PSI

This tire represents Michelin's revolutionary radial technology that separated sidewall function from crown function, delivering superior road-holding, grip, braking performance, and ride comfort compared to traditional bias-ply tires. The XZX is an ideal replacement for 5.00-15 bias ply tires and is commonly fitted to classic vehicles including Volkswagen Beetle, Citroën GS, Panhard 24, Renault Dauphine, Alpine A110, and other vintage European automobiles. Built using modern materials to original specifications, this tire preserves authentic driving character while meeting contemporary safety standards.
