Michelin 512856 TRX 190/55VR340 81V Radial Tire

The Michelin TRX 190/55VR340 is a classic low-profile radial tire designed for vintage European sports cars and performance vehicles. Originally developed in 1975, the TRX (Tension Répartie, meaning "distributed tension") revolutionized tire technology by creating a tire and rim system designed to work as a single integrated unit.

Key Features:

• 190mm section width with 55 aspect ratio low-profile design
• 340mm metric rim diameter (non-standard TRX rim required)
• 81V load index and speed rating (1,019 lbs capacity, 149 mph max speed)
• 21.7-inch overall diameter (550mm)
• Blackwall sidewall styling
• Radial construction with tubeless design
• Racing-proven technology from Formula 1 and World Rally Championship

Performance Benefits:

• Remarkable grip through optimal contact patch pressure distribution
• Enhanced comfort from increased flexing zone design
• Superior directional stability and steering precision
• Better weight distribution across entire tire casing

The Michelin TRX earned legendary status in motorsports, notably with Renault and Prost Formula 1 teams, and rally champions including the Audi Quattro, Peugeot 205 Turbo 16, and Renault R5 Turbo. Built using authentic original molds, these tires maintain period-correct styling for classic vehicle restorations. Note that TRX tires require special TRX-specific wheels with unique flatter, lower flange design and are produced in limited quantities as replacement fitments for vehicles originally equipped with this tire system.
