Speedmaster PCE291.1074 Internal Balanced Fluid Damper Harmonic Balancer SFI 18.1

The Speedmaster PCE291.1074 is an internal balanced fluid damper harmonic balancer for Ford FE 390, 427 and 428 engines. It is SFI 18.1 rated and built to control crankshaft vibration across the engine's operating range.

How It Works:

• Three-part design: a laser-welded sealed housing, an internal inertia ring, and highly viscous silicone fluid between the two
• Controls all crankshaft vibration, not just a limited frequency range
• Helps reduce wear on the main bearings and timing gear
• Supports more stable valvetrain operation and lowers the chance of crank failure

What Internal Balanced Means:

An internal balanced (neutral) damper has no built-in weight or offset in the casting, so it is perfectly balanced on its own. To identify your existing damper, check its backside, which cannot be seen while the damper is mounted on the engine. If the casting has no offset or weight, it is an internal (neutral) damper. If you see an offset in the casting or an added weight, it is an external damper. Confirm which style your engine uses before ordering.
