Mustang Survival 79073 Hydrostatic Release Unit HRU for Life Rafts EPIRBs Safety Parts & Accessories

The Mustang Survival 79073 Hydrostatic Release Unit (HRU) is a passive, automatic safety device engineered for the emergency deployment of life rafts and EPIRBs aboard marine vessels. Should a vessel sink, the HRU activates automatically at a preset water depth — typically between 1.5 and 4 meters (4.9–13.1 ft) — cutting the lashing and allowing the life raft or EPIRB to float free and self-inflate at the surface, even when crew members are unable to manually deploy the equipment.

Key Features:

• Automatic hydrostatic activation at a depth of 1.5 to 4 meters — no crew action required
• Compatible with Mustang Survival life raft and Category I EPIRB mounting systems
• Single-use, disposable design built for reliable one-time emergency deployment
• Corrosion-resistant construction engineered to withstand prolonged exposure to harsh saltwater environments
• Meets SOLAS and USCG safety standards for offshore and coastal vessel compliance

The Mustang Survival 79073 HRU is a critical component of any offshore vessel's emergency safety package, providing fully passive protection that operates independently of crew intervention. As a date-sensitive, single-use device, it should be replaced according to the manufacturer's recommended service interval — typically every two years from installation or per the expiry date stamped on the unit — to ensure reliable operation when it matters most.
