Mustang Survival 76816 Hydrostatic Release Unit (HRU) for Life Rafts & EPIRBs

The Mustang Survival 76816 Hydrostatic Release Unit (HRU) is an automatic, pressure-activated marine safety device designed to deploy life rafts or EPIRBs without manual intervention if a vessel sinks. As a passive safety mechanism, the HRU provides a critical last line of defense when crew members may be incapacitated or unable to reach safety equipment during an emergency.

The 76816 operates on the principle of hydrostatic pressure — as a sinking vessel submerges, increasing water pressure at a preset depth triggers a spring-loaded blade inside the unit. This blade severs the securing strap or lashing holding the life raft or EPIRB, allowing the equipment to float free to the surface and deploy automatically. No manual action or power supply is required for activation.

Key Features:

• Automatic activation at a preset submersion depth — no crew action required
• Compatible with Mustang Survival life rafts and EPIRB mounting systems
• Pressure-activated blade mechanism severs securing lashings upon reaching trigger depth
• Built for harsh marine environments — reliable performance under demanding offshore conditions
• Meets applicable marine safety standards for hydrostatic release devices
• Intended for installation and servicing by trained marine safety professionals

The Mustang Survival 76816 is a genuine OEM replacement and service component. HRUs are consumable safety items that must be inspected regularly and replaced before their printed expiry date to ensure reliable performance. Use only manufacturer-approved replacement units to maintain compliance and equipment warranty.
