USA Standard Gear ZMMUNWT297-6 Front Input Bearing Retainer for Muncie M20 M21 M22

The USA Standard Gear ZMMUNWT297-6 is a front input bearing retainer designed for GM Muncie M20, M21, and M22 4-speed manual transmissions. This precision-engineered component, also known as the input shaft retainer, bearing snout, or nose cone, serves as a critical housing for the front input shaft bearing in classic Muncie aluminum 4-speed transmissions.

Key Features:

• Direct replacement for GM part number 3915020 and WT297-6
• Compatible with Muncie M20, M21, and M22 4-speed transmissions (1964-1974)
• Features 1-3/8" throwout bearing surface for smooth clutch operation
• High-quality steel construction for durability and longevity
• OEM-equivalent dimensions ensure proper fitment
• Does not require a seal (Muncie aluminum 4-speeds do not use a seal in the retainer)

The front bearing retainer plays a vital role in clutch operation by providing a smooth surface for the throwout bearing to travel across during engagement and disengagement. A worn or damaged retainer can cause rough, notchy clutch pedal feel as the throwout bearing binds. This USA Standard Gear replacement restores smooth clutch operation and ensures reliable performance in classic GM vehicles equipped with Muncie 4-speed transmissions.
