Hella 011178861 Rain Light Humidity Sensor 6Pw - 5-Function OE-Quality Windshield Sensor

The Hella 011178861 is an OE-quality rain/light/humidity sensor (also known as a rain/light/climate sensor or RLS) engineered to deliver five driver-assistance functions in a single, compact unit. Drawing on Hella's decades of original equipment expertise, this sensor is built to the same standards as the parts found on the vehicle assembly line.

Key Features:

• Rain Detection: Automatically activates and adjusts front windshield wipers based on the detected intensity of rain or splash water, compatible with windscreen inclinations of 20° to 54°
• Ambient Light Sensing: Monitors surrounding brightness and triggers automatic switching of low-beam headlamps — such as when entering tunnels or driving at night
• Solar Load Measurement: Evaluates solar radiation entering the cabin to assist with automatic climate control optimization
• Humidity Measurement: Monitors interior humidity levels to help prevent windscreen fogging and support HVAC system adjustments
• Head-Up Display (HUD) Brightness Control: Measures brightness directly in front of the vehicle and automatically adjusts the light intensity of the head-up display for optimal visibility

The 6Pw designation indicates the Hella OE part number series for this sensor variant. The sensor features an extremely compact design that fits even in confined installation spaces, and is engineered for direct-fit, clip-in installation without the need for additional assembly tools.

Hella introduced the world's first combination rain/light sensor and has maintained its position as a market leader for over 20 years. This aftermarket unit transfers that same OE know-how directly to the independent parts market, ensuring reliable performance and long service life.
